Job Description

The University at Buffalo seeks faculty at all ranks (Assistant, Associate and Full Professor) for two positions in the newly established Biomedical Engineering Department (www.bme.buffalo.edu), one of seven departments in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at UB. The Biomedical Engineering Department is a joint program venture between the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the School of Medicine and Biological Sciences. Excellent candidates are sought with expertise in the broad areas of biomedical imaging, tissue/cell/molecular engineering, biomedical instrumentation, and biomedical informatics and computation. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work within an established collaborative environment spanning across all Schools at the University. The UB2020 strategic investments (www.buffalo.edu/ub2020) in new faculty and facilities have occurred over the past five years to enhance multidisciplinary activity (Strategic Strengths) that benefit the new department. These areas are I) Information and Computing Technologies; II) Integrated Nanostructured Systems; III) Molecular Recognition in Biological Systems and Bioinformatics; and IV) Health and Wellness across the Lifespan.


Requirements

Applicants must possess a PhD or MD/PhD in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related area. Successful candidates are expected to establish research programs in Biomedical Engineering with collaborations extending throughout various departments and centers within the University and with its partners. Additionally, the successful candidates are expected to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
